Harland Snodgrass was the founder of the Video Arts program in the School of Art and Design and an original faculty member of the School’s Foundations Program. He served as professor of painting and video arts from 1969-85. Initially the Video Arts program was called Time Space Interface (TSI) and is one of the oldest video art program in an art school in North America.

The Time Space Interface (TSI) Harland Snodgrass Gallery, located in the Harder Hall lobby, was originally founded by Andrew Deutsch and Peer Bode in 1995 as the Harland Snodgrass Space. The space was established to exhibit student video works, and rededicated in 2017 as the TSI Harland Snodgrass Gallery under the supervision of then Dean Gerar Edizal. Video artworks made by Division of Expanded Media faculty and undergraduate students, Electronic Integrated Arts graduate students, Institute for Electronic Arts resident artists, and invited artists are displayed in the gallery.

Snodgrass was named an honorary member of the iea upon it’s founding in 1997.
