The Institute for Electronic Arts is delighted to introduce our 2024 archive intern, Gianna Sapienza (Gigi). Gigi brings with her a comprehensive background in publicity, documentation, and leadership. In addition to her role at the IEA, she holds the position of Events Team Leader under Caitlin Brown, the Communications/Outreach Director for the NYSCC & PAD. Her primary responsibility involves documenting and organizing the IEA’s extensive physical print archive, with a focus on preparing for an exhibition in the coming years. We are pleased to note that Gigi’s position is generously funded by The William Gold Learning Fund.

Over the past decades, the IEA has welcomed numerous artists to Alfred University through our residency program, resulting in a collection of prints and other works on paper in our archive. The scope of Gigi’s position extends to creating a comprehensive database encompassing these works on paper as well as, time and budget permitting, digital works from the archive as well. The finalized database will play a pivotal role in the production of a catalog and subsequent exhibition. Each print will be assigned an official IEA number for official documentation and storage of all IEA works.

We look forward to sharing updates with you as they happen.
