Mary Ann Strandell received a BFA cum laude from The University of South Dakota; her MA and MFA from the University of New Mexico; and two Intern-Fellowships: Tamarind Institute, NM and The W.H. Over Museum, SD. Press for her work includes the The New Yorker Magazine, New York Times, Village Voice, Brooklyn Rail, Whitehot Magazine, Artslant, Paper Magazine, Artes Magazine, Art Critical Magazine. She is a recipient of an NEA Fellowship Award in Painting: a Mid Atlantic Fellowship in Painting; Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Grant; Humanities Council Grant; residencies at Art Omi, Byrdcliffe, and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art. She has exhibited widely in the United States and abroad, including a two person show at Panorama Art, Cologne Germany. Solo exhibitions include The North Dakota Museum of Art, ND; Michael Steinberg Fine Art, NY: Deborah Colton, TX; Second Street Gallery, VA; Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art, MO; Artport Kingston, NY; Juliette Yuan&Associates, NY, among others.
