About the CEC

Founded in 1986, the Canadian Electroacoustic Community (CEC) is Canada’s official national association for electroacoustics and as such is dedicated to promoting this progressive art form in its broadest definition: from “pure” acoustics and computer music to soundscape and sonic art to hardware hacking and beyond.

The IEA, in collaboration with the Harald Bode Digitization Archive, has been engaged in a project of scanning documents by electronic music instrument pioneer Harald Bode and collaborating with Berlin based researcher and radio producer Caspar Abocab and Berklee School of Music, Boston, MA, Professor Tom Rhea. This project has produced a radio show in Germany by Abocab, “Living For Sound- The Inventor Harald Bode And The Evolution Of Electronic Music”, a gallery show at the Estey Organ Museum in Brattleboro, VT, ongoing, as well as a proposed gallery show in the fall at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo, NY.
