Newcity recognized Luftwerk in their current issue ‘Design 50’ as part of a group of innovative designers who are shaping Chicago in 2016, pushing the limits of design.

Luftwerk’s Petra and Shawn (pictured above) are great friends of Alfred. They have been Institute for Electronic Arts artists in residents, a number of times. They made wonderful work in Alfred, including a major dance and video projection piece in the Fosdick-Nelson Gallery with D.Chase Angier for the exhibition As The Air Moves Back From You.  Below is a link to a video documentation of this collaboration produced by Alfred Electronic Integrated Arts graduate student Yasmina Chavez.

Location: Front foyer of Harder

Cost: N/A

Sponsored by Committee or Division: Expanded Media and the Print Club

For the 4th year Print Club is sending students working in Expanded Media to the Southern Graphics Council International Conference with the mission to gain professional development, experience mentorship opportunities, to learn about the broader field of careers in art, network with faculty from potential grad schools, and offer their portfolios for critique by artists from all over the world. This year the conference is in Portland, OR, making travel costs significantly steeper. We are asking for your support in the form of donated artworks for our annual SGCI OR BUST auction on Friday Feb 12th.

We love variety and so will our bidders! Please consider donating works of any medium to the auction. Work can be delivered to Billie Burns in the art office (or to the print club flat file) through 4pm on Feb 5th. The silent auction will open in the lobby of Harder Hall on Tuesday, Feb 8th, and the live auction begins on Friday, Feb 12th at 6pm. Please include your name, title, media and minimum bid with your art. If you would like to have your work picked up or need more info, you may reply to:
