Dear Alfred University students, staff, and faculty:

Please join me in congratulating our softball team, ranked 17^th in the nation, on capturing the Empire 8 championship this past weekend as well as on their 3-0 victory earlier today over Piedmont (Georgia) in the opening game of the NCAA Regional Championships in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Jess Wilcox ’21 pitched a one-hit gem and struck out 12 while our batters got just enough hits to secure the win.

We will face Linfield (Oregon) in the winners’ bracket tomorrow at 1 p.m. EST. Linfield is ranked 8^th in the nation and we last faced them in the opening game of the Women’s College World Series in 2015.
