Fiat Art Force 5 and Susan B!

Past and present members of Art Force 5, founded and led by Dan Napolitano ’93, assistant dean of our School of Art and Design, have been invited to the Buffalo Bills training camp this week in Rochester. They have been creating art to honor Susan B. Anthony and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave American women the right to vote. As part of her campaign for equal rights for women, Susan B. was invited to our Alfred University campus to give a talk.

The Art Force 5 community-based art project being conducted in conjunction with the Bills training camp has received favorable media coverage. For example, Mawia Elawad ’17, a past member of Art Force 5, teamed up with our Board chair, Greg Connors ’92, for a live television interview yesterday on WUHF, the Fox News Channel in Rochester.

The mosaic art project will conclude tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, as noted in the link above. If you would like to help create the art tiles that will comprise the mosaic please visit the Bills training camp at St. John Fisher College, 3690 East Avenue, in Rochester between 8:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. There is no charge to participate. You can also help promote the Susan B. Anthony celebration by encouraging talented prospective Alfred University students or the teachers/counselors of such students in the greater Rochester area to participate. I am certain they will benefit from being exposed to the creative work of Art Force 5 as well as to Alfred University’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity.
