Fiat Leaders, On and Off the Court

The four seniors on our men’s basketball team this year are leaders on the court, and off. The four—Sage Brown, Dom LeMorta, Pat McLamore and Scotty Stopera—led our team to a first-ever Empire 8 championship, and on to the second round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association play-offs for Division III.

As a team and as individuals, they put up some pretty impressive statistics, and laid the groundwork for future successes. They are laying the groundwork for Alfred University’s future success as well, by joining the Saxon Circle, our leadership giving society.

Their Saxon Circle support is helping us to meet the dollar-for-dollar challenge match created by Terry S. Galanis, Sr., ’40 and trustee Neal Miller for our second annual Day of Giving (today) to benefit our Alfred Fund.

Join the team of leaders!

Here’s how you can help:

  • Make a donation today by texting ALFRED to 71777 or online at https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/ALFRED.
  • Help spread the word by using #ColortheDayPurple and sharing Alfred University social media posts on your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Text or email your friends and let them know about today’s Day of Giving.

Fiat Leaders!

P.S. At the photo session yesterday, I took the opportunity to pass on some tips, from my own hoop-playing days, to our players on how best to palm a basketball. At the next gathering I promised to pass along some advice regarding improving their dunking skills (at least for those of them with the requisite height and/or leaping ability).
