Fans storm the court after men's basketball victory

Last night featured a thrilling victory for our men’s basketball team over Nazareth, 94-83. With the win, we captured the regular season crown and earned the right to host the Empire 8 tournament this weekend. This will be the first time we have hosted the tournament, the winner of which will get an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III national tournament. We will play in the semi-finals on Friday and the championship game will be on Saturday.

Our fans stormed the court at the Galanis Family arena after our team’s win.

Thank you to all the supporters who showed up last evening to cheer on our team. There was a lot of purple in evidence in the stands and some fans took the #PurpOut encouragement to greater lengths than others.

VP Jason Amore and President Zupan show off their purple & gold

Friday’s games start at 5:30 p.m. when our Saxons meet the fourth-seeded team from Stevens Institute. At 7:30 p.m., Nazareth will play St. John Fisher. Winners of both games will meet at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Galanis arena, McLane Center, for the championship and the NCAA bid.

Join us if you can at the Galanis arena this Friday and Saturday to root for our team! If any of you would like to borrow my purple hair spray canister for the occasion please let me know…but the purple Chuck Taylors are mine!
