In continuation with the long history of collaboration between the iea and Proyecto\u00b4ace, Mat\u00edas Homar (Assistant Professor of Music \/ Sound Studio, Alfred University, Division of Performing Arts) participated in a two-part residency between the organizations. In the first half of his residency, Homar used the extensive technology available through the division of Expanded Media and iea studios to create custom speakers and prints. Accompanying this work, Homar published a limited-edition print Intempo(r)[al]<\/em>, 2025 which is available for purchase through ieaEditions<\/em> HERE<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery el_id=”gallery-166571″ type=”carousel” medias=”89881,89936,89937,89935,89933,89932″ carousel_lg=”3″ carousel_md=”3″ carousel_sm=”1″ gutter_size=”3″ media_items=”media|lightbox|original,icon|md” carousel_interval=”3000″ carousel_navspeed=”400″ carousel_loop=”yes” carousel_nav=”yes” carousel_nav_mobile=”yes” stage_padding=”0″ single_overlay_opacity=”50″ single_padding=”2″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/1″][vc_column_text]For the second portion of his residency, Homar staged a sound performance in the Espacio Di\u00e1logo at the \u00b4ace studio in Buenos Aires. The result was a site-specific sound installation of variable dimensions constructed with extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation boards, sublimated and laser-cut, together with harmonic exciters with electronic amplifiers. In addition, Mat\u00edas exhibited some printmaking pieces in the Transversal Space of the \u00b4ace studio, integrating his visual imagery with the artist\u2019s sound and installation proposals.<\/p>\n

\u201cIntempo(r)al<\/em> is a sound installation that explores the visual as a source of sound. Through impressions on resonant surfaces activated by electronic exciters, the work articulates soundscapes that fluctuate according to the light of the environment, transforming the viewer\u2019s spatial perception. Four of the pieces reproduce, in a loop, processed sounds intertwined with texts by Rodolfo Walsh, while the rest incorporate sound materials from guitar and voice. Distributed at different points in the space, the image-emitters construct a sound and visual fabric that invites the viewer to inhabit listening, memory, and resonance in a suspended time.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While crafting groundbreaking MIDI devices like the award-winning GEP Contraption, Homar released albums with Imaymana Duo and an experimental project Ge[r]minaciones<\/em>. Homar\u2019s works span ensembles worldwide, blending music, technology, and performance into transformative experiences.<\/p>\n

Proyecto\u00b4ace<\/a> is an Artist-in-Residence International Program founded by Alicia Candiani in 2005, located in the Barrio de Colegiales in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The program acts as both, a platform for production and reflection on contemporary artistic practices and a link between the invited artists and the City of Buenos Aires\u00b4 rich cultural community. Through production, research and urban-community intervention residencies, it fosters interrelationships with other artists and contexts, promoting exchange, discussion, experimentation and collaborative work.
