Allen (EIA MFA 2012) had originally been scheduled for his residency to coincide with the 2020 20th anniversary of the academic EIA MFA program. Despite the rescheduling we had a wonderful week with Allen whose recent body of work features recordings made on the rare video synthesizers at Alfred. These include beta versions of the David Jones Core+ digital high-speed video oscillators and our much loved c.1979 Snodgrass Sandin IP.<\/p>\n<p>During the week Allen made a significant number of recordings on the Snodgrass Sandin IP, which he also brought into the ATEM video Mixer\/Keyer for further processing. One of these pieces Allen displayed on media-floor of the McGee Pavilion. Allen with his community spirit publicly screened his <em>Electronic Pastoral\u00a0<\/em> in the Snodgrass TSI gallery. As well, Allen spent time visiting with old colleagues and mentors making for a much appreciated return and renew for the start the academic semester.\u00a0 Finally Allen tested and documented a WIP <em>red<\/em> (working title), featuring residency week recordings, on the three-channel Expanded Media Immersive Gallery, using a new installation-design-software built by Expanded Media Faculty, Eric Souther.<\/p>\n<p>Allen Riley is an artist working with video and electronic media. He earned an MFA in Integrated Electronic Arts from Alfred University in 2012. Riley&#8217;s work has been exhibited at the Burchfield Penney Art Center and was featured in public programs at the Asia Society Museum and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Riley has participated in residencies at Signal Culture in Owego, NY, the Institute for Electronic Arts in Alfred, NY, the Lower East Side Ecology Center, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
