[vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”4″ top_padding=”2″ bottom_padding=”2″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″][vc_column][vc_column_text]Through the week of June 2nd the iea welcomed Jim Morris<\/a> as our artist in residence. Jim, a professor of art at SUNY Brockport, works in multiple layers of transparency with Mylar, ink, and printed designs to create layered compositions. He often infuses antique materials into his work, such as old graph paper and other found papers.<\/p>\n

Jim’s time at the iea focused on sketching and preparing for a series of work to ultimately be translated to layered works on Mylar and other translucent materials. Prints were produced on vellum and Watercolor paper and layered to produce the compositions Jim is known for. The laser cutter was also utilized to cut out some of the abstract drawings he produces that were formally cut out by hand.<\/p>\n
