At Alfred University, we are committed to helping every student feel confident and prepared as they take steps toward their future careers. One of the ways we do this is through Cheryl’s Closet, a free resource on campus that provides students with professional attire for interviews, career fairs, presentations, and other career-related events.
Cheryl’s Closet is operated by the Career Development Center and stocked entirely through the generosity of our AU community. Each year, students visit the Closet to find clothing that helps them make a strong first impression as they embark on internships, job searches, and graduate school applications.
How Families Can Help
As you prepare to bring your student back to campus for the spring semester, we invite you to consider donating gently used business attire to the Closet. Items we accept include:
- Blazers, suit jackets, and dress pants
- Professional dresses and skirts
- Blouses, button-downs, and dress shirts
- Dress shoes and accessories (belts are needed)
We simply ask that donations be clean, gently used, and free of stains, rips, or loud prints to ensure students feel polished and professional.
Where to Donate
If you’re interested in making a donation, please contact the Career Development Center at at cdc@alfred.edu or 607-871-2165.
Thank you for supporting our students’ confidence, success, and professional growth. Your contributions truly make a difference!
