Welcome from Eliza Ordway

Greetings, AU Families,

At the Center for Student Involvement (CSI), we inspire engagement and connection with our campus through our 75+ clubs and organizations. If your student has a unique interest not covered by our roster, we can help them create a new club. Our oversight includes the Student Activities Board, Student Senate, and our popular $2 Movie Nights. We also curate a ‘Top 5’ poster, featuring the weekend’s top events, shared with all students in a weekly email from our Vice President for Student Experience, Amy DeKay.

Our office manages an online event management system called AU Connect and the CORQ app, which are utilized by all clubs and many departments across campus. Both platforms can help your student connect with co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities/activities hosted by these clubs, organizations, and campus offices.

A few large-scale events that are coming up in the spring are:

  • Hot Dog Day is our annual spring festival, happening on April 26. Alfred University and Alfred State College partner with the Village of Alfred to host a street festival and carnival to benefit various local charities. The Hot Dog Day tradition is 53 years strong and is a great event that brings us together as a community for a day of celebration before the semester wraps up.
  • Unity Day, on May 2, is our annual celebration hosted by the Institute for Cultural Unity and our Common Ground Classes. This event allows student groups to highlight and educate the campus community on their cultural backgrounds.  It includes food trucks, activities by clubs, music, and more.
  • Lastly, the third Annual Ball will take place on April 5. This formal event offers dinner and dancing for the students.

Alfred University is a campus with rich and diverse program offerings. Opportunities for your student to become involved in the greater campus community are plentiful. Our clubs and organizations are constantly growing and changing, ensuring every student can find their place. Please encourage your students to engage with the Center for Student Involvement to see what’s happening or share their ideas for programming.

Fiat Lux!
