This month <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncai.org\/initiatives\/native-american-heritage-month\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cis a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To celebrate, Scholes and Herrick each have curated displays in their front lobby areas, showcasing offerings from the AU Libraries collections.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to resources within Alfred\u2019s collections, the Association of Research Libraries has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arl.org\/blog\/arl-member-libraries-celebrate-native-american-heritage-month\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">compiled a resource listing events, news stories, online collections, and exhibits from its member libraries<\/a>. The AU Libraries have compiled a list with more information and resources celebrating Native American Heritage Month below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Film, Radio and Television<\/strong><br><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/americanarchive.org\/catalog?q=native+americans&amp;utf8=%E2%9C%93&amp;f%5baccess_types%5d%5b%5d=online\" target=\"_blank\">American Archive of Public Broadcasting<\/a><br>Public radio and television programming related to Native Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/specials\/native-american-heritage-month\/\" target=\"_blank\">PBS Native American Heritage Month<\/a><br>Through dance, family traditions, art, and music, these stories show both the contemporary diversity and long history of Indigenous people across the land we now call the United States.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/series\/1047406725\/native-american-heritage-month\" target=\"_blank\">NPR celebrates Indigenous communities<\/a><br>Stories, podcasts and more from NPR media and news outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Online Resources and Exhibits<\/strong><br><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/iaia.edu\/mocna\/mocna-exhibitions\/\" target=\"_blank\">Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA)<br><\/a>Virtual exhibitions at the IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/nativeamericanheritagemonth.gov\/exhibits-and-collections\/\" target=\"_blank\">Native American Heritage Month, Exhibits and Collections<\/a><br>The official .gov website lists exhibits and collections from the Library of Congress, National ARchives, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, as well as curated social media offerings.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indianartsandculture.org\/online-exhibitions\/\" target=\"_blank\">Museum of Indian Arts and Culture<\/a><br>The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture produces online exhibitions illustrating themes and ideas related to Native American material culture. Some online exhibitions complement the exhibitions on view in the galleries, others are created specifically for the Web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Research Resources<\/strong><br><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.archives.gov\/research\/native-americans\" target=\"_blank\">American Indian Records at the National Archives<br><\/a>Find information relating to American Indians from as early as 1774 through the mid 1990s.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.colorado.edu\/IK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Indigenous Research &amp; Knowledges in North America, University of Colorado Boulder<br><\/a>An overview of indigenous knowledge and starting points for exploring these knowledges by geography, format of materials, or theme. This guide intentionally centers materials created by indigenous peoples.
