{"id":1626,"date":"2016-05-17T17:31:32","date_gmt":"2016-05-17T17:31:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aulibrarynews.wordpress.com\/?p=1626"},"modified":"2016-05-17T17:31:32","modified_gmt":"2016-05-17T17:31:32","slug":"au-libraries-wins-nationally-recognized-prize-for-public-relations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.alfred.edu\/aulibrarynews\/2016\/05\/17\/au-libraries-wins-nationally-recognized-prize-for-public-relations\/","title":{"rendered":"AU Libraries Wins Nationally Recognized Prize for Public Relations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align:center\">Touted as\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebscohost.com\/academic\/john-cotton-dana\"><em>The Most Prestigious Award of the American Library Association<\/em><\/a>&#8221; \u00a0The ALA has recently announced that\u00a0<strong>Alfred University Libraries is a\u00a0winner of the coveted:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h3 style=\"text-align:center\">2016 John Cotton Dana Library\u00a0Public Relations Award<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1650 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.alfred.edu\/aulibrarynews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/05\/gi_78425_johncottondana.jpg\" alt=\"gI_78425_johncottondana\" width=\"278\" height=\"278\" \/><strong><span style=\"color:#000000\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.alfred.edu\/aulibrarynews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/05\/hpw_presentation_page_01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1624 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.alfred.edu\/aulibrarynews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/05\/hpw_presentation_page_01.jpg\" alt=\"HPW_Presentation_Page_01\" width=\"219\" height=\"292\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color:#000000\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em>&#8220;Built around the National Library of Medicine\u2019s traveling Harry Potter exhibit, the Scholes Library created a comprehensive marketing campaign that both showcased their own collections as well as their creativity as they celebrated all things Potter in a tiered campaign that brought the entire community together<\/em>.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">With this recognition, AU Libraries takes its place alongside several of the nations&#8217; most prestigious public and university libraries.<\/p>\n<p>From the official press release : \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/news\/press-releases\/2016\/05\/announcing-winners-john-cotton-dana-library-public-relations-awards-2016\">April 29, Chicago, IL<\/a> \u2014 <em>After many hours of deliberation \u2013 made especially challenging by the high quality of the dozens of entries in this year\u2019s John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Awards \u2013 the judges announced the eight winners of this year\u2019s contest.\u00a0 Each winning library will receive a $10,000 award from EBSCO and the HW Wilson Foundation, the sponsors of this prestigious annual award.\u00a0The following winners will be celebrated June 26 at an open reception during the American Library Association\u2019s 2016 annual conference in Orlando.<\/em><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1629 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.alfred.edu\/aulibrarynews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/05\/illustration.gif\" alt=\"illustration\" width=\"442\" height=\"467\" \/>In Fall 2015, the Scholes Library at Alfred University hosted the National Library of Medicine\u2019s \u201cHarry Potter\u2019s World\u201d traveling exhibit. To welcome the exhibit, forge ties with the campus and community, and raise awareness of our collections, we created a two month long event series in the university libraries.
